Building Green: Step into the circles of the future
What does the construction industry look like when it lives up to the Paris Agreement and climate science? This is the theme of Building Green in Copenhagen, which will take place on 30-31 October 2024. Troldtekt is one of the partners at a Cradle to Cradle themed stand, where you can experience the circular economy in practice.
The construction industry needs to both reduce its carbon footprint in the short term and design recyclable materials to reduce resource consumption in the long term. The Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute, Troldtekt and five other manufacturers will highlight this issue with a joint stand at Building Green at the Forum (Copenhagen) on 30-31 October.
The theme of the stand is Cradle to Cradle and how the industry benefits from working strategically with the internationally recognised design concept. At the stand you can experience a wide range of Cradle to Cradle Certified® products and see how we as manufacturers work with the certification.
At one of the exhibition’s Specialist Talks, you can also learn about Cradle to Cradle’s focus on the circular economy. Darma Louise Duus, Manager of Circular Solutions at Troldtekt A/S, will be one of the speakers.
Stricter requirements for the construction industry
This year’s theme at Building Green is 'Beyond the Roadmap'. It is a result of the Reduction Roadmap initiative, which promotes legislation that sets stricter requirements for the construction industry’s carbon emissions. More than 630 organisations from the Danish construction industry, including Troldtekt, have joined and signed the proposal.
Common to all exhibitors at stand 92 is that we offer Cradle to Cradle Certified products. For example, all Troldtekt cement-bonded wood wool products in natural wood and standard colours are certified at Gold level. At the stand you can meet:
- Troldtekt
- Min Altan
- Qbiq.nl
- Ds-stålprofil
- Breuerundschmitz.de
- Derbigum
Renewable energy and multiple life cycles
In practice, the certification means that we work systematically with the five Cradle to Cradle categories: Material Health, Product Circularity, Clean Air & Climate Protection, Water & Soil Stewardship and Social Fairness.
For example, the production of Troldtekt cement-bonded wood wool acoustic panels is based on renewable energy. With regard to material health, we have collaborated with our supplier on a new paint mix, so that Troldtekt panels painted in standard colours are also Cradle to Cradle Certified at Gold level.
In addition, we work with return models that can give the acoustic panels one or more extra life cycles. Schemes for cement-bonded wood wool waste from our own factory and customer building sites have been set up in Denmark. Our ambition is also to reuse, recycle and upcycle panels from demolition sites.
You can hear more about this at the stand, where you can also experience acoustic panels based on FUTURECEM™. The innovative cement type results in a reduced carbon footprint during production – and Troldtekt based on FUTURECEM emits between 26 and 38 per cent less CO2 over the entire life cycle of the products than Troldtekt based on traditional cement. The exact reduction depends on the product variant.
