Cement gives Troldtekt acoustic panels their strength, durability and effective fire protection. But at the same time, cement accounts for almost its entire carbon footprint. Now you can choose Troldtekt based on the carbon-reduced cement type FUTURECEM™.

The London Construction Awards jury has now shortlisted Troldtekt based on FUTURECEM for this year’s awards ceremony in September. The acoustic panels are finalists in the Excellence in Sustainability – Product category. It is a category that celebrates innovative products developed with both the industry and the planet in mind.

The award winners will be announced and honoured at a gala show at Novotel London West on 27 September. London Build Expo, the UK’s largest construction trade fair, is behind the award and a jury made up of 25 industry representatives.

A significantly lower footprint

The patented FUTURECEM cement type utilises the synergy between calcined clay and limestone filler. In this way, much of the burnt clinker in the cement can be replaced, resulting in cement with an approximately 30 per cent lower carbon footprint.

Over the entire product life cycle, the carbon footprint of Troldtekt acoustic panels based on FUTURECEM is:

  • 26 per cent lower than that of Troldtekt based on grey cement
  • 38 per cent lower than that of Troldtekt based on white cement

All Troldtekt cement-bonded wood wool products are Cradle to Cradle Certified® at Gold level.

The share of panels sold is increasing

As of 2024, Troldtekt has completely phased out the use of traditional grey cement. This means that the proportion of acoustic panels sold based on FUTURECEM will increase further. To motivate customers to choose the carbon-reduced panels, we have maintained the same price as for the traditional panels.

Wood is the other raw material used in Troldtekt acoustic panels, and Troldtekt uses only Norway spruce from certified forests (FSC® C115450 and PEFC™). The total carbon footprint for each product variant can be found in our environmental product declarations (EPD).
