Swedish Building of the Year Award 2024 winners have been found
On 19 March, the prestigious award for Building of the Year 2024 was presented. Three projects with Troldtekt acoustic solutions were among the finalists, including the innovation house Space in Lund, which won the Hotel and Office category.
Building of the Year is the Swedish construction industry’s top award, presented every year in connection with the Construction Summit in Stockholm. This year’s summit took place on 19 March in Sergel Hub.
Trade journal Byggeindustrin is responsible for the award ceremony, and a trade jury has decided on the projects good enough to reach the final.
A total of 107 projects in different categories were nominated, and the winner has now been found. Among the nominees and finalists were the three projects Koenigsegg´s new factory in Ängelholm, GoCo House in Mölndal and Space in Lund, where Troldtekt acoustic solutions are part of the design.
Innovation House Space in Lund won the Hotel and Office category
Space is a newly built innovation centre with offices and laboratory activities spread over 6,300 square metres in Lund’s Science Village district. Wihlborgs Fastigheter is the developer, and the project was designed by FOJAB and Frøslee.
Wall panels featuring the Troldtekt tiles design solution in a distinctive pattern are a feature of the building's spacious atrium. Elsewhere in the building, Troldtekt line and classic Troldtekt acoustic panels have been used.
In 2023, Space became the first office building with laboratory facilities to achieve Zero CO2 certification from the Sweden Green Building Council. The project will also be certified in accordance with the WELL and Sweden Green Building Council Gold standards.
Space won the Building of the Year 2024 award in the Hotel and Office category.
The jury explains its choice of Space as a category winner by the fact that the project was realised after a competitive tender with both innovation requirements and a tight deadline as central components. With Space, a triple-certified office building with a hybrid frame has been created after the developer and contractor worked hand in hand all the way from start to finish.
