New solution from Troldtekt: Acoustic fleece ensures good acoustics and easy handling

Both a building's users and its developers have a good reason to get excited about the new Troldtekt Plus 25 panels. This specially developed acoustic panel sets a high standard for both sound absorption and building efficiency.

Danish manufacturer Troldtekt A/S introduces yet another innovative solution for the construction industry: Troldtekt Plus 25 is an acoustic panel that combines high sound absorption with significant practical advantages such as low weight, space-saving design and low overall costs. 

In practice, Troldtekt Plus 25 is a two-layer panel but only 25 mm thick, just like Troldtekt’s traditional single-layer panels. A special acoustic liner made of non-woven acoustic fleece is applied to the back of the panel and ensures high sound absorption.

"Our goal has been to develop a solution that meets both acoustic and practical requirements. The high sound absorption, even in the low frequencies down to 125 Hz, makes a noticeable difference in rooms where speech intelligibility is crucial," comments Cécile Vassort, Head of Product Management & Development at Troldtekt A/S.

As a suspended ceiling, Troldtekt Plus 25 has a so-called alpha value of 0.9 (αw = 0.90), which means that it can achieve Class A sound absorption at an suspension depth of 200mm. The fact that the panel excels in the low frequencies (125-250 Hz) makes it perfect for applications such as classrooms and meeting rooms.

 

Easier handling on site

The acoustic fleece itself is so thin that the panel measures and weighs the same as a traditional 25 mm Troldtekt acoustic panel – without a backing layer. This makes it significantly easier to stack, cut, lift and assemble on site.

With a thickness of only 25 mm and a weight of 11.5 kg, Troldtekt Plus 25 offers significant logistical and practical advantages:

"Because the panels take up less space, there are fewer storage and transport requirements during the construction process. At the same time, its low weight makes installation easier and saves time, effort and costs on the building site," explains Cécile Vassort.

Troldtekt Plus 25 provides the best acoustic effect when installed at a suspension depth of 200m. At reduced installation heights, the effect is still higher than with classic cement-bonded wood wool panels – but not as high as when Troldtekt panels with mineral wool on the back are installed. 

 

Durability and certified wood

Troldtekt CEO Michael Heeager Nystrup expects the market to welcome Troldtekt Plus 25: 

"We see great potential in the new acoustic panel because the product solves several of the challenges our customers face – from logistics and installation to acoustic performance. The combination of high sound absorption and easy handling makes it a solution that can create value across projects and markets," he says.

Like the rest of the Troldtekt product range, Troldtekt Plus 25 is designed and manufactured in Denmark with a focus on quality and durability. This means:

  • production with certified Danish wood from responsible forestry operations (PEFC/09-31-030 and FSC® C115450).
