Troldtekt and Cradle to Cradle Certified®

Since 2012, Troldtekt’s business strategy has been based on the internationally recognised Cradle to Cradle design concept.

The vision behind Cradle to Cradle is a world in which manufacturers design their products for a circular economy – in other words, where the materials can be reintroduced in new cycles. The design concept is based on three basic principles:

 

  • Eliminate waste: All products should be designed to be recyclable in a biological or technical cycle. 
  • Renewable energy: Energy for processes must come from renewable sources such as wind and hydropower or biomass.
  • Supporting diversity: A circular economy must support biological, cultural, social and conceptual diversity.

 

Each time the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute launches a new version of the certification, they tighten the requirements so that they are always at least in line with legal requirements. An essential purpose of Cradle to Cradle Certified product certification is therefore ongoing progress within the certification’s five categories.

Troldtekt in new cycles

Troldtekt is Cradle to Cradle certified at Gold level. Troldtekt acoustic panels are documented as being free of harmful substances and can therefore safely be returned to the biological cycle. Waste from the production of Troldtekt panels enters the technical cycle as a resource in new cement at Aalborg Portland.

Troldtekt also works with return models that can give the acoustic panels one or more extra life cycles. You can read more about them in the section on Circularity.

Material health

Product Circularity

At Troldtekt, we work with several models for recycling. To achieve Cradle to Cradle certification, a material must be recyclable in at least one new cycle.

Renewable energy

The use of renewable energy is a basic principle in Cradle to Cradle. Troldtekt systematically works to increase the share of renewable energy in production.

Water stewardship

At Troldtekt, we work in line with Cradle to Cradle certification requirements for water resource management. Among other things, we are making a positive impact with rainwater basins that also support biodiversity.

Social fairness

Social responsibility is a fundamental value at Troldtekt. Heavy investments in our production facilities benefit the working environment and our surroundings.
