Social Fairness

Responsibility is a core value at Troldtekt. We attach great importance to being a safe and attractive workplace with a good relationship with the local community around us. Over a number of years, we have invested heavily in improving the physical environment at our factory – for the benefit of both employees and the factory's neighbours.

Challenges are bound to arise when large production facilities are situated in an urban context. However, we have a clear goal of limiting the inconvenience to our neighbours as much as possible – and we value close dialogue with them.

In recent years we have invested millions of kroner in reducing the amount of dust and noise, among other things by storing waste wood, ash dust and sawdust in sealed containers and tanks – and by installing noise screens around exhausts, motors and switching to a quieter technology (for example electric pumps).

We want to make Troldhede an attractive place to live, which also helps us to bring new employees to the area. That’s why we continuously support the life and development of the town. We have done this by supporting the establishment of a new recreational ground and sponsoring the town’s sports centre.

Troldtekt as a safe and attractive workplace

We want to create a good and safe workplace for all employees. Safety is paramount in a manufacturing company and is an area of constant focus for Troldtekt. For the same reason, in 2023 we hired a Health & Safety Coordinator, whose job involves systematising our safety work and ensuring that initiatives and guidelines are given the right level of visibility in our daily routines.

Creating a safe working environment without occupational accidents or near-misses must be part of our culture – and that calls for continuous training, visibility and, not least, perseverance. Everyone agrees that safety is a top priority, but only by incorporating safe habits into our daily routines can we live up to our ambitions.

Among other initiatives, our three health and safety representatives have attended a safety course at Dansk Metal, we have systematically reviewed and risk-assessed all processes and work areas, and we have conducted internal campaigns and focused on correct and ongoing reporting of safety observations and near-misses.

Enhanced training and development

Troldtekt attaches great importance to the training of our employees – because we want to be an attractive workplace with good development opportunities and because we want to be the best specialists in our field.

As we have employees with many different educational backgrounds, it can be a complex task to offer the right framework and opportunities for everyone. That's why we've appointed a People & Development Manager to set the framework for future professional development.

In line with our continued growth, we will need even more specialist knowledge and higher qualifications in a number of areas in parallel with more management training, as good management is essential for employee satisfaction and company cohesion.

Conditions of employment

Employee conditions are rooted in Troldtekt’s personnel policy, in our works council (SU) and in our occupational health and safety committee (AMO). Employees are represented by trades union representatives, who ensure they are kept informed on an ongoing basis about their conditions and rights. Troldtekt adheres to the Confederation of Danish Industry’s current collective agreement, provides free workwear and the possibility of flexible working hours as well as health insurance for all interested employees.

With regard to salary, working hours and sick leave, Troldtekt offers better conditions than those stipulated in the collective agreements.

We are committed to being an inclusive workplace with room for everyone. This also includes those colleagues who work in flexi-jobs or otherwise need more considerate working conditions.

Responsibility for inclusion

A second and important aspect of our CSR work is that we are consciously taking responsibility for inclusion in the labour market. Several times we have job-trialled a number of unemployed men and women – and subsequently employed them permanently in flexi-jobs.

In 2018, we hired a deaf colleague in a position on completely normal terms. Since then, we have had other deaf colleagues in traineeships and project employment.

Space for tomorrow’s workforce

In addition to our focus on inclusion, we also want to help to educate young people so they are well prepared for their entry into the labour market. In Denmark, there is generally a shortage of apprenticeships and traineeships. This may be storing up problems for the future, both for us and other Danish companies in the form of shortages of competent, skilled workers.

At Troldtekt, we regularly have apprentices and adult apprentices in our production, as well as trainees and student assistants at our head office. In addition to providing students with valuable work experience, the study-related jobs also help to secure new perspectives for Troldtekt’s future workforce.
