Cement
Cement gives Troldtekt acoustic panels their strength and fire resistance without the use of harmful chemicals. These are benefical properties that are currently difficult to achieve with other binding agents. We use two types of cement from Aalborg Portland, which extracts the raw materials from the Danish subsoil: the carbon-reduced cement type FUTURECEM™ and white Portland cement.
Aalborg Portland is certified in accordance with the ISO 14001 environmental management system and the European Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS).
FUTURECEM
FUTURECEM from Aalborg Portland exploits the synergies between calcined clay and limestone filler. In this way, much of the burnt clinker in the cement can be replaced. The result is cement with an approx. 30 per cent lower carbon footprint.
We are continuously increasing the proportion of FUTURECEM in our products and have completely phased out the use of traditional grey cement from the start of 2024.

Traditional cement
Chalk and sand are the key raw materials in traditional Portland cement. Chalk is extracted from Aalborg Portland’s chalk quarry, while sand is extracted from Hals Barre, for example, where sand extraction helps keep the Limfjorden shipping channels navigable.
We only use a white variant of the traditional cement for the production of Troldtekt panels in natural wood.
Investigating alternatives
We are identifying the long-term possibilities of completely replacing cement with more sustainable alternatives. Among other things, Troldtekt is participating in a project investigating the possibility of using a binder called geopolymer, produced from construction waste.
