Billund modern homes
Billund's first high rise residential block has been designed with an emphasis on quality. The 20 apartments are so attractive that almost all their leases were sold before completion.
"Billund is experiencing rapid growth, dominated by Lego and Lalandia, and the town needed a boost,” says architect Ole Sand Kristensen from Arkitektfirmaet Kloden ApS. “This residential building is therefore intended to serve as a landmark near the chestnut tree roundabout – the gateway to the town centre.”
The housing association has focused on creating high quality homes with a first class finish. The six storey brick building has spacious balconies on the south side for all apartments. Focus has also been on quality and durability inside. For example, white Troldtekt panels have been used to line the ceilings to ensure comfortable acoustics in the stairwell and the apartments – even in the bathrooms. The white ceilings reflect light from the large windows, which provide attractive views of the open landscape. The rugged texture of the Troldtekt panel can also resist damage when being removed to access service systems and general installation work.
Ole Sand Kristensen reports that his company often specifies Troldtekt panels for their projects, which range from family homes to larger commercial buildings. He has noticed that Troldtekt panels are also becoming popular in homes, where there is a trend towards a natural and rustic style. “They provide ideal acoustics", he adds.
