Modernised with respect for history
AIP Management has moved into the property on the corner of Købmagergade and Klareboderne in inner Copenhagen. After a major transformation, including of its interior design, the company is now housed in an inviting and elegant classic property.
Located right between Illum and the Round Tower, the property, built in 1895 for the Messen department store, is very centrally located. Today, the city life on Købmagergade is still part of the place's identity. The building is characterised by a magnificent round corner bay window with a spire, a Hermes sculpture on the roof and a beautiful facade that changes after the first floors. The two lower floors have large shop windows, while the upper floors also have relatively large window sections.
AIP Management, which advises on investments in renewable energy, is spread over the top four floors. In general, the interior design of the older building can be described as respectful of the original qualities and made with robust materials.
Focus on materials and integrity
One of the hallmarks of the building, both inside and out, is the round bay window. The first floor features wall and window niches with granite surfaces that give a unique historical touch. The textured surfaces are 'mirrored' in the ceilings, where grey Troldtekt panels give the ceiling surfaces a different rustic feel while providing good acoustics and an architectural connection between all types of spaces.
Guests arrive in the building on a floor decorated in a welcoming lounge style. The meeting rooms all have curved glass walls, which is a distinguished nod to the rounded bay window, but in a more contemporary choice of materials. The curves also provide a nice transition between spatial zones.
At the top is the canteen with built-in benches along the windows and bay window. This allows diners to enjoy the daylight from two sides, as the building is located on a corner. Up here too, Troldtekt ceilings are a choice that fits into the whole, with a focus on comfort and pleasant materials and colours.
