Between east and west

Floor-to-ceiling windows and doors allow daylight to fill the home's large rooms. There's courage here to let the surroundings set the agenda and enhance the home.

Troldtekt acoustic panels have unique sound-absorbing properties and ensure superior acoustics in, for example, private homes

The villa can be described in many ways, but regardless, a contradiction exists which gives the house some nerve. Set back on the plot, the angled house sits like a sculpture occupying the terrain. At once, it's a classic villa in red brick, an element which nicely references the neighbourhood while at the same time being a strong, load-bearing element. Thus, the window profiles are colour-coordinated and provide calmness to the large windows, where several glass corners come together, adding lightness to the home.

The slope of the landscape creates a series of different levels inside, which also serve as natural divisions of space in the living areas. The recurring natural stone floor extends out onto the terraces to the east and west.

Richness of detail

The central space with kitchen and dining area is well-lit, so you can enjoy light from both east and west. The backyard is adjacent to a park with large trees, and it’s as if the house is stretching out to bring them inside. While the walls are tactile outside, floors and ceilings are tactile inside.

The ceilings are clad in Troldtekt v-line, where the lines run from west to east. The ceiling acts as a sound absorber and with its lines adds structure to a house where most lines are vertical. The house has many details that are discreetly incorporated into the whole. Ceiling spotlights that illuminate the wall surfaces are a good example of the sculptural approach to architecture.
