Dreamhouse in Støvring, Denmark
The building expo, Byg Nordjysk, presents different construction companies’ ideas for a modern home. In KFS Boligbyg’s proposal, the recurring materials provide the perfect interplay.
The house built by KFS Boligbyg has a popular floor plan where a central, open plan kitchen-dining room comprises the home’s common area, with a corridor leading to a wing with children’s rooms and, at the opposite end, a parents’ area that functions optimally. The living room is connected to the kitchen-dining room, but has a slightly lower ceiling height, transmitting cosiness and intimacy. In the middle of the home, the ceiling is almost three metres high, so acoustics were an important consideration. Troldtekt v-line was chosen as a unifying ceiling in all the rooms. In addition to good and pleasant acoustics, the discreet groves in the panel come with an elegant design solution. This allows the panels to flow together and form a homogeneous surface like the continuous PU floor.
Wood and brick as a common thread
Colour plays a major role in the materials and interior design of the house. The Troldtekt ceilings are in the colour clay, which adds a nice warmth to the rooms without being dominant. In addition, dark-stained wood is used in the kitchen and coffee niche. At the entrance and on the windowsill, the bricks help to create variation and texture in the home. Outside, wood and Troldtekt panels are also used on the covered terrace, where the window colour is combined with wood and brick.
KFS Boligbyg has no standards, but does have its own design studio and team of craftspeople. According to the company, Troldtekt in the colour clay has received a lot of attention from customers as it provides a warm look that suits many homes.
Troldtekt based on the low carbon cement type FUTURECEM was chosen for the show house, which, in addition to its well-known benefits, has a 38 per cent lower carbon footprint compared to Troldtekt based on white cement when looking at the entire product life cycle.
