Investment in education
The secondary school established in 2010 in Blaue Land in Murnau am Staffelsee has found its home in a new, modern, open-plan building.
The picturesque artists’ town of Murnau am Staffelsee is located right in the middle of the popular tourist region Das Blaue Land. The market in the Oberbayern district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen not only boasts an idyllic location in the foothills of the Alps around 70 kilometres from the state capital of Munich, it also offers excellent infrastructure and state-of-the-art educational facilities.
From temporary solution to state-of-the-art educational facility
The highly regarded secondary school in Blaue Land, which has already received several awards for various projects, was established in 2010 following a local initiative and initially started out in 2011 as a small branch of Realschule Penzberg secondary school with just 54 pupils in a portacabin. In three construction phases over the years that followed, a pioneering complex with space for currently more than 600 pupils finally emerged opposite two other schools, blending harmoniously into the surroundings with its façade of slim vertical wooden elements in earth shades.
Lots of wood and light colours
Under the management of LaubenderArchitektur of Bad Heilbrunn, the temporary modular wooden extension containing six additional classrooms was recently inaugurated, completing the new school building. The rooms are bright and open. Wide hallways, expansive glazed façades with light wooden frames as well as other wooden elements, combined with light walls and floors, create a welcoming atmosphere. In keeping with all of this, cement-bonded wood wool panels are installed on the ceilings to ensure optimal acoustics however lively the children may get.
