Blaubeuren Indoor Pool
The indoor swimming pool in Blaubeuren, Baden-Württemberg, has re-opened after only six months of refurbishment works.
Built in 1977, the indoor swimming pool at the Blaubeuren Technischen Werke (TWB) was in need of a complete structural overhaul. Architect Markus Gebhardt was the designer responsible for the new look. New colours, a new ceiling and the latest technology: extensive work has been done, with the indoor pool being left bright, friendly, modern and economical.
After the required renovations to the flat roof, a second phase saw the ventilation and heating systems replaced, the ceiling and lighting updated and a new colour scheme of bright blues and greens introduced.
Roof supports spanning both swimming pool areas are painted black to contrast with the natural light and colourfully decorated surfaces of the lightweight wood-wool panels. Architect Mark Gebhardt also skilfully fitted out the walls and pitched roof areas with sound absorbing Troldtekt acoustic panels.
